Unlike traditional Minesweeper where you avoid mines, in this game YOU place the mines and watch as the AI tries to safely navigate around them. Test your strategic mine placement against different AI intelligence levels and see if you can outsmart the computer!

In Reverse Minesweeper, you become the game designer, strategically placing mines across the board to challenge the AI. The AI will then methodically reveal cells, trying to avoid your mines. If the AI reveals all non-mine cells, it wins. If it hits a mine, you win!

  1. Select a Difficulty Level:
    • Beginner: 9×9 board with 10 mines
    • Intermediate: 16×16 board with 40 mines
    • Expert: 22×22 board with 99 mines
    • Custom: Define your own board size (5-30) and number of mines
  2. Choose a Language: Select from 10 available languages in the dropdown menu
  1. Click the “Continue to Mines” button to proceed to the mine placement phase
  2. Place mines by clicking on individual cells, or click and drag for faster placement
  3. Remove a placed mine by clicking on it again
  4. You must place ALL available mines before starting the game
  5. A counter at the top shows how many mines you still need to place

    • Basic AI: Makes mostly random moves with minimal strategy
    • Intermediate AI: Employs basic pattern recognition and some strategy
    • Advanced AI: Uses sophisticated probability analysis and complex solving strategies
  2. Click “Start Game” to watch the AI attempt to solve your minefield
  3. During Gameplay:
    • The left board shows the actual game state
    • The right board displays the AI’s probability analysis
    • The thinking area shows the AI’s reasoning process
    • Adjust the AI speed using the slider
    • Use the Pause/Resume button to control gameplay
  • Reset: Restart the game at any time
  • Pause/Resume: Temporarily halt the AI’s moves
  • Sound Controls: Toggle sound effects and background music using buttons in the bottom right
  • Basic AI: Makes random guesses with approximately 70% accuracy. Best for beginners or if you want an easier challenge.
  • Intermediate AI: Uses basic pattern recognition and has about 85% accuracy in identifying safe cells. Provides a moderate challenge.
  • Advanced AI: Employs complex algorithms with 95% accuracy, analyzing the entire board and making highly strategic moves. The most challenging option.
  • You Win: If the AI hits one of your mines
  • AI Wins: If the AI successfully reveals all non-mine cells
  • Strategic Mine Placement: Group mines together to make it harder for the AI to identify patterns
  • Edge Placement: Mines along the edges can be particularly challenging for the AI
