Printable Sunday Crossword Puzzle

Its always difficult for teachers to keep charge in a Sunday school class thats full of rowdy children. Tips for teaching Sunday school are always helpful and appreciated. You must always be patient and accepting because youll be dealing with children.

Try to be friends with the children. Sometimes kids look at teachers in a negative way but this can be prevented. Make the kids feel comfortable. Earn their respect by being prepared and confident. Earn their trust; be a figure that they can come and talk to. Simultaneously, set rules and let the children know your expectations. While you dont want to be the sour old teacher, you want the kids to respect your authority. Most importantly, adapt your teaching style to the personalities of the children. Continuously use a variety of teaching methods.

You can use these tips for teaching Sunday school when youre creating lesson plans. If you plan ahead, youll have a wide variety of activities for each unit. To begin with, start early. Dont save the planning until the night before because its very likely that youll need to collect supplies for your lessons. Get to know the topic that youre going to be teaching. Read about it and take your own notes so that youre completely comfortable with it. With this, youll be more knowledgeable for the students. Sometimes kids will test you by asking tricky questions and you always want to be on guard!

One of the most essential tips for teaching Sunday school is to incorporate all different learning styles in your lesson plans. You must be knowledgeable of the different strengths and weaknesses of each learning style. Linguistic kids are especially good at writing and verbal expression. Those kids will be the first ones to volunteer to read or tell a story. Theyll learn best by reciting and following written instructions. Logical-mathematical kids are advanced in problem-solving, math and reasoning. Theyll excel in activities that include pattern or numbers (i.e. crossword puzzles). Musical kids will generally be good at musical memory and manipulating sound.

Theyll learn best by hearing songs and melodies and by hearing information in a rhythmic fashion. Visual/Spatial kids have strength in mapping, charting, sculpting and modeling. Theyll be good at drawing, building, designing and visualizing. Tactile/Kinesthetic kids are the ones that have great hand-eye coordination and they use movement and physical expression. Some great activities for them are doing skits or even interpretive dance. Last but not least, there are extroverted and introverted kids. Extroverted kids are going to be the great communicators and negotiators. They learn the best with interaction, talking, and team activities. Introverted kids are good at application and introspection. They learn the best when theyre working independently. Although not every lesson will be adaptable for all of the kids, try to use variety so that no one is ever completely lost.

Tips for teaching Sunday school have such a broad spectrum because the real adaptation depends on the specific group of kids. You need to get to know all of them. Its only then that youll be able to get through to your entire class.
